Obituary (The Jamestown Sun, Jamestown, ND, Wed 10 May 1972): "Emmett P. Morehouse, 77, longtime resident of the Courtenay area, was found dead Tuesday at his home in Courtenay after apparently suffering a heart attack the day before. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 pm in the Eddy Funeral Chapel with Rev Norman Porath officiating. Burial will be in the Courtenay cemetery. Born June 5, 1894, in Faribault County, Minn., Mr. Morehouse was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Morehouse. As a young boy, he came to North Dakota with his parents who homesteaded in the Sanish area. He attended school in the community. His marriage to Alma Christianson took place Jan. 14, 1919, at Stanley, and they made their home on a farm near Sanish. In 1926 they moved to Blackduck, Minn., and in 1927 to Courtenay. His wife died Aug. 13, 1969. Mr. Morehouse continued to reside in Courtenay since 1927, working as a self employed carpenter. He is survived by five children: Mrs. John Krubeck (Alvira), Courtenay; Mrs. Milton Beck (Frances), Evansville, Minn.; Almond Morehouse, Valley City; Mrs. Charles Spaulding (Violet), Alexandria, Minn.; and Palmer Morehouse, Eldridge; 19 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son, five brothers and four sisters."
